2025 Summer Party

We're excited to announce our 2025 Summer Party, a fun afternoon with lots of traditional Somali food, and a chance to celebrate the women who’ve taken part in our programmes this year!

The event will also include an award ceremony of the ESOL certificates to recognise everyone's hard work, progress and completion of this year's programme

Digital Skills Workshop
Funded by Award for All

May 2024 - Current

The digital skills workshop is delivered to 52 women who are currently registered at our centre, and takes place every Tuesday and Thursday.

In these workshops, our aim is to support the ladies in their job search and employment skills, as our job skills leader identified a need for us to help the ladies with their digital literacy skills. This enables them to search for jobs online at the centre and at home, giving them more independence.

On starting the workshops, it became very clear that many of the women were digitally illiterate - many had never used a computer or laptop, and some ladies did not have an email. At the beginning of the workshop course, we focused on the very basics of using a computer and keyboard.

As a result, the women have gained so much confidence and long-term digital skills from participating in this workshop.

We would like to say a big thank you to Award for All and Birmingham Digital Device Bank for providing us with funding and laptops that has made this possible.

10 New Laptops!

Donated by Birmingham Device Bank

Project Somali is excited to announce a significant achievement: we've received a donation of 10 laptops from Birmingham Device Bank!

This generous contribution is a huge step forward for the provision of our services, enabling our service users to learn and practice digital skills. These laptops are invaluable to us, and will enable us to help support with computer literacy, and accessing online opportunities, such as employment.

Very soon, we hope to be setting up a brand new digital skills workshop twice a week - watch this space!

We are so grateful to Birmingham Device Bank for their commitment to supporting our community.
